Leon Berkers. Twenty years of infrastructure and software, and a low tolerance for work that cannot be measured.

I have done this work since 2002. I started at a satellite company, first designing the network and security and later helping build the software in the dishes at the customer's home. Then seven years at Enexis, the Dutch national grid operator, where I built and ran the cloud environment, and a year at ASML. And all through that, working on the side for smaller companies.

Those two sides are exactly why I do this. At a grid operator you learn that things have to demonstrably work before you switch them on, because too much depends on them. At a ten-person company you learn that nobody has time for a six-month project. Both are true. Most IT firms pick one.

I work remotely, from Thailand

I would rather say that up front than have you find out later.

In practice it means this: your whole morning, from nine until three, I am simply reachable. That is my afternoon. For calls and discussion that is more than enough. And the work itself needs nobody looking over my shoulder.

If someone has to physically turn up at your office, pull a cable or set up a desk, I am not your man. That is not false modesty, it is just how it is, and you would rather hear it now.

What I have no appetite for

• Selling AI to someone who has no use for it.
• Writing a report nobody acts on.
• A contract that rolls on because you forgot to cancel it.

There are plenty of other parties for that.

I have an MSc in Business Administration from Radboud University, and the certifications that matter in this field: AWS, Red Hat, TOGAF, Scrum. I list them because you might be looking for them, not because they tell you anything about whether I will solve your problem.
